Motor vehicle theft is one of the most common issues facing Insurance companies today. This, coupled with the increase in fraudulent claims and other factors, has created a real challenge for the Insurance companies. Investigating some motor vehicle thefts can be difficult and in some cases very complex. When investigating vehicle theft, the investigator must determine the reason for the theft. Vehicles may be stolen temporarily, for example, for use in the commission of other crimes such as robberies or drive-by shootings, after which the vehicles are abandoned. Other reasons for theft can include joyriding, professional theft, or fraudulent schemes. RIS has experienced former Police Officers who now work for RIS and conduct vehicle theft investigations for major insurance companies.
